- Hi. Following your message Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 2.0 Generic (CC BY-NC-SA 2.0) is not suitable for Commons since commercial use must be permitted. The valid licenses are listed at COM:L. Kind regards, --Patrick Rogel (talk) 23:02, 26 January 2019 (UTC)

Deleted content[edit]
the following content you uploaded is not free and therefore has been or will soon be deleted:
File:Jair Bolsonaro overflights the Brumadinho dam disaster (new angle).jpg
The Wikimedia Commons (this website) only hosts media files which can be used for any purpose, including:
- use in any work, regardless of content
- creation of derivative works
- commercial use
- free distribution
See Commons:Licensing for the copyright policy on Wikimedia Commons, and Commons:Image casebook for some specific examples. Some other Wikimedia projects have different licensing policies. For example, the English Wikipedia allows fair use of sounds and photographs. This is not the case on Wikimedia Commons; "fair use" materials are not acceptable here.
Please make sure that you only upload works you have created yourself, those which are out of copyright, or those for which you have the required permission for the work to be used in all the ways described above. Please note that derivative works of copyrighted material are also considered copyrighted. Again, please read through Commons:Licensing, which is quite crucial to understanding how Wikimedia Commons works. Thanks for your contribution, and please do leave me a message if you have further questions. And also:

- Patrick Rogel My bad. I just saw the image on Flickr and as it was licensed as "some rights reserved" I thought I could use it here. I'm sorry for this mistake. You can nominate it for speedy deletion if you can or wish. Please accept my apologies.--SirEdimon (talk) 21:55, 9 March 2019 (UTC)

Hi SirEdimon, the Flickr-uploader/author of this image is on our "bad author" list, whereby we cannot accept uploads from them. Sorry. --Túrelio (talk) 20:30, 16 June 2019 (UTC)
Cropping images[edit]
Hi, I noticed that you have cropped several images, presumably to remove a logo. There may be legal implications in doing this, see Commons:Watermarks#Legal issues with the removal of watermarks. This is not an official Commons policy or guideline and I'm not telling you to not do it, but you should be aware of the legal issues.
I also notice that the file size of your cropped images is much smaller than the originals, indicating that the image is more compressed and has probably lost some image quality. I recommend using Commons:CropTool. Rather than cropping, it is often better to paint out unwanted elements of an image using an image editor, retaining the original composition. I do this using Microsoft Paint to copy a neighbouring area of the image, as in File:Brynford Village Green - geograph.org.uk - 33781.jpg. Regards, Verbcatcher (talk) 22:42, 25 August 2019 (UTC)
File tagging File:Martin Filler DM.jpg[edit]
![]() |
This media was probably deleted. |
Thanks for uploading File:Martin Filler DM.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or send an email with copy of a written permission to OTRS (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). This also applies if you are the author yourself.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, and Commons:Permission if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own. The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the OTRS-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded ([[:File:Martin Filler DM.jpg]] ) and the above demanded information in your request. |

- Hi, Secondarywaltz. This image was uploaded on en.WP, it's there for over 7 years and it was suggested by a bot to transfer it to Commons. If this is a COPYVIO, it's a serious COPYVIO on en.WP (where the image is being used for several years). If this is a COPYVIO just tell me and I'll nominate the image at en.WP for deletion too. Regards.--SirEdimon (talk) 04:25, 19 January 2020 (UTC)
- @Secondarywaltz: Note attached to the upload states "Image copyright © Duane Michals" and there is no permission from the author. Secondarywaltz (talk)
- {{reply to|Yes, I noted it, but I assumed that it was "impossible" to an image to remain for over 7 years on Wikipedia violating copyright without anyone (admins/experienced editors) to notice it. Perhaps, I was a little bit "naive". I have no means to contact the image's author and the editor, who originally uploaded it on en.WP, is inactive for almost 6 years now. I guess the only solution is to delete it. I'm sorry for this mistake. I'll nominate the original image for deletion. Regards.--SirEdimon (talk) 04:40, 19 January 2020 (UTC)
