Just FYI[edit]
Since about one week spam on file pages from Bangladesh 37.111.224.0/19. Range block might perhaps cause collateral damage. Best, --Achim (talk) 16:25, 5 February 2020 (UTC)
- Definitely troublesome and thanks for the message
. I've started blacklisting the links and running through the tools on Meta in case it's cross wiki. Best --Herby talk thyme 11:34, 6 February 2020 (UTC)
- Plus - the varied editing times suggest that maybe there are some proxies among those IPs. I'll look more when I have time. Best --Herby talk thyme 11:52, 6 February 2020 (UTC)
- Interesting - although apparently Bangladesh it seems like a number of them at least are actually .hu ones (and mobile pool IPs). --Herby talk thyme 15:15, 6 February 2020 (UTC)
Sock cleanup request[edit]
Hi again. Following up on Commons:Administrators'_noticeboard/User_problems#Wikipedia_sock_turning_to_Commons the other day, would you mind taking a look at User:185.49.75.145 and considering reverting on the same grounds? They've stopped editing, probably as a result of some kind of autoblock, but it'd be good to roll things back before any inappropriate edits or category changes get bedded down by later editors. --Lord Belbury (talk) 21:04, 12 February 2020 (UTC)
- Hi - sorry busy in RL currently. You would be better posting on an admin board to get this sorted quicker. Regards --Herby talk thyme 08:20, 13 February 2020 (UTC)
- No problem, I appreciate the time you've given it. I already raised the issue at the link above, a couple of days ago. I'll try removing the indent to make it clearer that it's another request. --Lord Belbury (talk) 08:51, 13 February 2020 (UTC)
Hello again. That request was ignored, as was a a followup thread which has just slid off the noticeboard after a week with no response. Any chance you could either take a look, or grant me Commons:Rollback so that I can tidy up the problem myself? (This is the first time I've had any cause to roll back content on Commons, so haven't requested it in the past.) Thanks. --Lord Belbury (talk) 09:09, 2 March 2020 (UTC)
- Sorry v busy with stuff. Rollback granted for a week to clean up - hope that helps. Cheers --Herby talk thyme 16:03, 2 March 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks!--Lord Belbury (talk) 16:06, 2 March 2020 (UTC)
Crown Sydney[edit]
Hi
I've noticed that a couple of images under the name "crown sydney" have been listed for deletion as a result of copyright. What were the main problems with the pictures? The author could only offer verbal permission for the images to be released into the public domain so i already struggled a fair bit in finding a way to license them. I'm not very experienced myself in this field (hence why i've probably licensed them incorrectly) so i'm absolutely willing to work with you in resolving this issue and hopefully finding a way to properly relicense the images without having them taken down.
Thanks Cement4802 (talk) 12:56, 23 February 2020 (UTC)
Undelete User page[edit]
Please revert this action. the user is a kind gentle elderly volunteer who also uploads images from the history of our region. The link to the website is not an ad... it is because people can contact him and ask for more images... he has 170000 files, he cannot upload them all directly, so that's why he provded the website. It's a damage for Commons not to provide it.--Alexmar983 (talk) 00:15, 29 February 2020 (UTC)
- i was assisting already, he wrtes me a mail sometimes. So it ìs no big deal. Thank you.--Alexmar983 (talk) 11:12, 29 February 2020 (UTC)
File:Kostolom.jpg[edit]
Hi Herbythyme - I saw you'd tagged File:Kostolom.jpg as 'no source'? It seems OK to me, it is sourced as {{Own}}, with the uploader's name. Was there any other reason for tagging it, please? Thre certainly seems to be a problem with its use on Russian wikipedia (!), but that isn't related to the validity of the photo on Commons. Thanks! - MPF (talk) 01:06, 2 March 2020 (UTC)
- Edit: never mind, I've discovered the photo is a copyvio from https://yakutiamedia.ru/news/560507/ so I'm deleting it - MPF (talk) 01:09, 2 March 2020 (UTC)
- To me it was a fairly obvious potential copyvio - I simply hadn't easily found the source. --Herby talk thyme 07:18, 2 March 2020 (UTC)

File:Jose Arnaiz Real Valladolid.jpg[edit]
Hi, I noticed that you marked File:Jose Arnaiz Real Valladolid.jpg as copyvio. I hesitated to put a speedy tag on it, despite the user's other uploads, because it looks like the club has supplied freely licensed images to Commons in the past (see Category:Files provided by Real Valladolid), so I figured there was a possibility the OTRS ticket on those images apply to new uploads as well. Though I'll defer to your judgment. Ytoyoda (talk) 17:45, 4 March 2020 (UTC)
I believe File:Fichaje001.jpg is also sourced to Real Valladolid. Thanks for your time. Ytoyoda (talk) 17:47, 4 March 2020 (UTC)- Sorry, don't mind me, the actual source seems to be https://realvalladolid.elnortedecastilla.es/noticias/201610/19/sonrisa-recobrada-jose-arnaiz-20161018215116.html Ytoyoda (talk) 18:20, 4 March 2020 (UTC)
- Exactly and copyright at source. I may well nominagte the other images soon. --Herby talk thyme 18:47, 4 March 2020 (UTC)
