Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]

[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Hallo, ich habe die Bausteine vor allem deshalb bei den Bildern eingesetzt, weil die in den Metadaten vermerkten Hinweise des Fotografen zu den Urheberrechten sehr deutlich der angegebenen Lizenz widersprechen. Siehe die Kästen unten auf den Dateiseiten. Das lässt daran zweifeln, dass ihm die Verwendung unter einer freien Lizenz bewusst ist. Gruß, Sitacuisses (talk) 18:04, 17 February 2014 (UTC)

Dear Wikimedians,

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the second round of the 2013 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the eighth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2013) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year were entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.

There are two total rounds of voting. In the first round, you voted for as many images as you liked. The top 30 overall and the most popular image in each category have continued to the final. In the final round, you may vote for just one image to become the Picture of the Year.

Hallo Frze. Beim Upload-Assistenten heißt es "Die Koordinaten des Standortes, an dem diese Mediendatei erstellt wurde". Damit ist m.E. der Aufnahmestandort gemeint. Ich hatte zwar gesehen, aus welchem Haus du das Foto gemacht hat - die Hausnummer macht es natürlich angenehm genauer. Ich werde das gleich anpassen. --Derbrauni (talk) 07:39, 7 March 2014 (UTC)

Hallo Brauni - bin ich gleich bei den nächsten punkten: in OSM fehlen die Hausnummern 33 und 35 in diesem Block, sodass die 39, aus der die Aufnahme gemacht wurde, nach vorn rutscht. Gute Frage - leider habe ich keine Ahnung von OSM. Ehrlich gesagt arbeite ich immer mit Google. Sicherlich wäre es am einfachsten, dort die Hausnummern zu ergänzen. Bin dort aber nicht angemeldet. da müsste jemand mit Wiki-OSM-Ahnung ran... --Derbrauni (talk) 15:02, 7 March 2014 (UTC)

Dear Derbrauni,

The 2013 Picture of the Year competition has ended and we are pleased to announce the results: We shattered participation records this year — more people voted in Picture of the Year 2013 than ever before. In both rounds, 4070 different people voted for their favorite images. Additionally, there were more image candidates (featured pictures) in the contest than ever before (962 images total).

• In the first round, 2852 people voted for all 962 files
• In the second round, 2919 people voted for the 50 finalists (the top 30 overall and top 2 in each category)

We congratulate the winners of the contest and thank them for creating these beautiful images and sharing them as freely licensed content:

1. 157 people voted for the winner, an image of a lightbulb with the tungsten filament smoking and burning.
2. In second place, 155 people voted for an image of "Sviati Hory" (Holy Mountains) National Park in Donetsk Oblast, Ukraine.
3. In third place, 131 people voted for an image of a swallow flying and drinking.

Wiki Loves Monuments 2014 - Ein Wiki-Beitrag für die Denkmaltopographie

Hallo Derbrauni,

vor zehn Tagen endete der vierte Fotowettbewerb Wiki Loves Monuments. Du hast daran aktiv teilgenommen und wir möchten Dir dafür herzlich danken.

Mit mehr als 35 Tausend Fotos hat Deutschland wie in den Vorjahren ein gutes Ergebnis erreicht und einen Anteil von 14 % an diesem internationalen Projekt erbracht, an dem sich 40 Länder beteiligten. Sehr erfreulich ist die hohe Zahl an 651 Teilnehmern allein in Deutschland. Schon zum Abschluss des Wettbewerbs waren rund 6000 Fotos (=17 %) in Listen und Artikel eingebunden. Einen detaillierten Überblick zu den Fotos, den Bundesländern und Teilnehmern findest du auf unserer WLM-Projektseite.

Die deutsche Jury hat nun die eingereichten Beiträge übernommen und ist gegenwärtig dabei, diesen wertvollen Fotobestand zu den Kulturdenkmalen zu sichten. Am nächsten Wochenende wird in Hamburg die entscheidende Jury-Sitzung stattfinden. Wir wünschen auch Dir mit Deinem Foto-Beitrag dabei viel Glück und Erfolg. Du darfst gespannt sein und all Deine Freunde bitten, Dir die Daumen zu drücken.

Die preisgekrönten 100 Gewinner-Fotos werden in der Woche ab dem 20. Oktober veröffentlicht. Auf dieser Grundlage wird auch in diesem Jahr ein Kalender-Poster für 2015 gedruckt werden.

Auf zwei Möglichkeiten einer weiteren aktiven Mitwirkung an unserem Denkmal-Projekt möchten wir bei dieser Gelegenheit hinweisen bzw. Dich dazu einladen:

• Unsere Freunde in Österreich haben mit einem gerade gestarteten Denkmal-Cup das Editieren von Denkmallisten und Denkmalartikeln in den Focus gerückt. Bis Ende des Jahres kannst Du Punkte sammeln und Preise gewinnen. Dabei geht es mit diesem Wettbewerb nicht nur um Kulturdenkmale in AT oder D, sondern generell um Denkmale in der deutschsprachigen Wikipedia, als offen für alle Länder.

• Vom 6.-8. November findet erneut die Europäische Denkmalmesse in Leipzig statt. Mit Unterstützung von Wikimedia Deutschland e.V. werden wir zum zweiten Mal die Ergebnisse von Wiki Loves Monuments im Rahmen eines Standes sowie eines Workshops vorstellen.

WLM-Aktivisten sind herzlich eingeladen, bei der Betreuung des Messestandes sowie in den Gesprächen über Möglichkeiten einer partnerschaftlichen Zusammenarbeit mit den Denkmalbehörden mitzuwirken. Die Reisekosten übernimmt für 8-10 registrierte Standbetreuer WMDE. Es muss nicht der gesamte Messezeitraum sein, auch eine Mitwirkung an 2 Tagen hilft uns, den Beitrag der Wikipedia für die Denkmaltopographie sichtbar zu machen.

Und schließlich gilt: Nach dem Wettbewerb ist vor dem Wettbewerb. Bereits jetzt kann jeder mit der Planung von Wiki Loves Monuments 2015 beginnen. Wir freuen uns auf Deine weiteren Beiträge für Wikimedia-Projekte.

Der WLM-Countdown hat begonnen

Hallo Derbrauni,

nun ist es wieder soweit. Vom 1. bis zum 30. September findet zum fünften Mal der internationale Wettbewerb Wiki Loves Monuments statt. Im Mittelpunkt steht bekanntlich das Fotografieren von Kulturdenkmalen. Du hast an einem der letzten Fotowettbewerbe teilgenommen und wir freuen uns auf weitere Bildbeiträge von Dir.

Viele interessante Motive, nicht nur Burgen und Schlösser, sondern auch Fachwerkhäuser, Brücken und Brunnen, technische und Industriedenkmale und vieles mehr gibt es noch zu fotografieren, damit sie in der Wikipedia dokumentiert werden können. Nützliche Tipps findest du auf unserer WLM-Projektseite. Du kannst gerne individuell Fototouren durchführen oder aber Dich auch Gruppentouren anschließen. Besonders freuen wir uns auf Fotos, die Lücken in den Denkmallisten der Wikipedia ausfüllen.

Darüber hinaus kannst Du auch an der Arbeit der Jury teilnehmen, die Mitte Oktober die Fotos bewerten und die Gewinner ermitteln wird. Bis zum 15. August kannst du hier Deine Bewerbung einreichen.

Hallo Derbrauni, im März letzten Jahres hast Du einige Fotos aus Grünenplan und aus dem dortigen Glasmuseum hochgeladen. Ich arbeite derzeit an einem Wikipedia-Artikel zur Grünenplaner Glashütte und mußte leider feststellen, dass kaum Fotos zum Bebildern zur Verfügung stehen. Hallo Derbrauni, ich bin gerade über File:Ende-der-Schonzeit-Team.JPG gestolpert. Dort wird als Urheberin "Franziska Schlotterer" genannt. Ich gehe davon aus, dass nicht du das bist, da du andere Upload mit deinem Benutzernamen als Urheber ausweist. Und die Person ist auch auf dem Foto zu sehen. Einladung zur Teilnahme an Wiki Loves Monuments 2016 in Deutschland

Hallo Derbrauni!

Du erhältst diese Nachricht, weil du bei Wiki Loves Monuments 2016 teilgenommen hast.

Auch in diesem Jahr beteiligt sich Deutschland wieder am internationalen Fotowettbewerb rund um Bau- und Kulturdenkmale. Bisher wurden bereits mehr als 18.000 Bilder hochgeladen – und wir würden uns sehr über weitere Bilder von Dir freuen. Noch bis zum 30. September 2016 kannst Du Deine Bilder hochladen. Alles Wissenswerte erfährst du auf der Mitmach-Seite.

Außerdem möchten wir Dich einladen, ab 12. September 2016 an der Vorjury teilzunehmen. Diese sichtet und bewertet die hochgeladenen Bilder und ermittelt so gemeinsam mit der Jury, die im Oktober tagt, die Sieger von Wiki Loves Monuments 2016 in Deutschland.

Guteborn, Schwarzbach, Großkmehlen

Freundchen :-) wenn du schon Fotos von Denkmalen in meiner alten Heimat zum Tag des offenen Denkmals machst, dann können die doch auch bei WLM teilnehmen :-) das gilt eigentlich auch für die Albertbrücke, den Mozartbrunnen, Dorfkirche Gelmeroda vermutlich auch den Mosaikbrunnen.

Einfach {{Wiki Loves Monuments 2016|de}} [[Category:Images from Wiki Loves Monuments 2016, DE-...]] einfügen, die ... gegen SN; BB und TH für das jeweilige Bundesland tauschen. Heute kannst du es noch ändern.

Danke Z für den Hinweis. Ich muss ehrlich sagen, dass ich WLM ein bisschen boykottiere. Ja, es entsteht viel Gutes dadurch; ganz sicher ist das für einige eine Motivation, Denkmäler zu suchen und zu fotografieren. Ich sehe aber dutzendfach, dass die entstehenden Bilder eher von mäßiger Qualität sind. Und noch häufiger, dass die indiskutabel schlecht benannt, beschrieben und kategorisiert sind. ok, ich versteh dich. an schlechter benennung und kategoriesierung stör ihc mich vor allem bei neulingen nicht. da vor allem jeder einen anderen focus auf den dateinamen legt. die fehlende beschreibung war dieses jahr teilweise ein problem des hochladeassistenten. naja, es wird bestimmt alles besser

Hallo Kollege, für einen Beitrag suche ich nach einem Foto bzw. Ansichtskarte eines Bildes von einem Zeppelin in bzw. über Dresden. Ehe ich alle 30.000 Brück & Sohn - Karten durchfiltere: Da du offenbar Dresden-Fotos regelmäßig bei Dir sicherst: Ist Dir da mal was untergekommen? Danke im Voraus schon jetzt für eine Antwort. Kategorien für den Kulturpalast

Hallo User:Derbrauni, warum wurde die neue Kategorie:Kulturpalast Dresden after reconstruction geleert. Ich wollte hier alle Bilder vom Kulturpalast einstellen, die nach dem Umbau aufgenommen wurden. Man kann damit den "alten" und "neuen" Kulturpalast besser unterscheiden. Falls der Name schlecht gewählt war, bitte Umbenennung in eine bessere für den Kulturpalast nach dem Umbau. Z.B. sollen hier auch Bilder vom neuen Konzertsaal reinkommen. Exterior und Interior ist auch gut, aber bitte dann unter "Palast nach Umbau". Gruß --SchiDD (talk) 15:56, 7 May 2017 (UTC)

Hallo SchiDD. Ich fand die Kategorie vor/nach dem Umbau nicht sehr hilfreich. Die meisten Bilder sind ja von außen, da sieht der Palast nicht sehr unterschiedlich aus. Aber wenn du noch einige Bilder mehr planst einzustellen könnte es trotzdem Sinn ergeben. Jeweils unter den Interior/Exterior-Kategorien. Hallo Brauni, ein Batzen ist es bei Neubearbeitungen nicht, wenn Du die Dateien eh anfasst und die Beschreibung präzisierst, sind es nach dem Speichern mit c&p nur 5 Klicks, Dauer ca. 10 sec., und die Datei wird a) möglicherweise gefunden und b) sieht man schon am Namen, dass es sich z. B. nicht um Gruna sondern Strehlen handelt. Wenn ich auch (ver)zweifle am "Nutzen", z. B. Category:Blasewitz. Hast Du bei mir >>Disk mal geguckt? Mittlerweile obsolet. Hallo Brauni. Lass Dich bitte nicht kirre machen. Unabhängig von der technischen Nicht-Realisierbarkeit einer teilautomatisierten Umbennenung ist folgendes anzumerken:

1. Handelt es sich hier nicht um sorgfältig mit Bedacht ausgesuchte Dateinamen, vergeben von erfahrenen Benutzern, sondern um einen Massentransfer von Panoramio mit automatischen, vom Bot gewählte Dateinamen, die willkürlich durchnummeriert sind - und häufig grundfalsch, bspw. wurden dutzende Strehlen-Bilder mit Gruna betitelt.
2. Vermutlich ist der Autor Kalispera Dell identisch mit Category:Sockpuppets of Kay Körner, der hier schon Heerscharen von Admins zur Weißglut gebracht hat, und nun mit dem Panoramio-Upload-Bot phantastisch seine infinite Sperre umgeht.
3. Ganz klarer Widerspruch bezüglich Umbenennung, die weder unnötig noch kontraproduktiv, sondern gemäß unseren offiziellen guidelines absolut richtig ist.

Schaust Du Commons:Dateien umbenennen:

• Änderung komplett bedeutungsloser oder zweideutiger in sinnvolle Namen, die beschreiben, was auf dem Bild zu sehen ist. Als Beispiel wird hier genannt File:Paris 319.jpg → File:Paris 75018 Rue Norvins no 018 Le Consulat z.jpg, was genau auf das obige Problem zutrifft.
  • Einzige Information ist die ungefähre Position: Die einzige Information ist eine ungefähre Ortsangabe, wie eine Stadt, eine Region oder ein Land. In diesem Fall ist die Ortsangabe so weit gefasst, dass die meisten Nutzer daran ohne Hilfe eines Ortskundigen nicht erkennen könnten, wo das Bild genau gemacht wurde oder was das Bild zeigt.
  • Namen, die nicht bedeutungslos sind, aber die Datei nicht beschreiben: Der Name enthält eine für sich genommen sinnvolle Beschreibung oder Mitteilung, die aber den Dateiinhalt nicht beschreibt.

Mit einer akuraten Beschreibung einem akuraten Dateinamen ist beispielsweise die Sortierung innerhalb der Kategorie sinnvoll möglich. Gleichartige Bilder eines Sujets sind so alphabetisch einander richtig geordnet. Zum anderen ist eine Bildauswahl mit Strg+F vornehmbar. Lieber Brauni, bitte weiter fleißig die Beschreibungen präzisieren und Dateinamen umbenennen (lassen). Danke & Gruß, SWE wünscht --Frze ^{> talk} 06:39, 30 June 2017 (UTC)

Es kann aber kaum das Ziel sein, dass in der Category:Cultural heritage monuments in Strehlen (Dresden) hunderte Dateinamen mit der allgemeinen Floskel "Denkmalgeschütztes Haus" beginnen. Da gebe ich dir vollkommen Recht, Sitacuisses. Ich ging davon aus, die Umbenennung Batch-mäßig zu machen. Und die Bildbeschreibung ist nunmal oft "Denkmalgeschütztes Haus, An der Pikardie 2-4, Strehlen, Dresden". Also könnte man einfach diese Beschreibung nehmen und zum Dateinamen machen. Oder müsste den Text noch mal bearbeiten und "Denkmalgeschütztes Haus, " raushauen. Was sicher nicht so einfach wäre. --Derbrauni (talk) 10:04, 30 June 2017 (UTC)

O je, ich habe jetzt erst bemerkt, dass Du lauter Einzelanträge gestellt hast und also Deine Anfrage missverstanden. Ach so: Ich sehe nicht, was Du speziell falsch gemacht haben sollst. Es ist nur besser, sie zusammen abzuhandeln wegen der gemeinsamen Begründung. Dazu muss man aber die Antragsseite manuell anlegen (was zum ärgerlichen Tippfehler führte). Ich hätte eigentlich auch die Löschanträge in die Dateien einfügen sollen, war aber zu faul dazu. Freilichtbühne mit Kategorie Hutberg (Kamenz)

Bin mir da immer nicht ganz so sicher: da c:Category:Freilichtbühne (Kamenz) eine Unterkategorie von c:Category:Hutberg, Kamenz ist, sollte dann tatsächlich alles in der Kategorie Freilichtbühne (Kamenz) außerdem die Kategorie Hutberg, Kamenz bekommen? HalloPaulT. Ich befürchte, ich habe dich noch nicht richtig verstanden. Was ich gemacht habe war ja nur bei den Brück&Sohn-Karten die Kategorien Hutberg, Kamenz und Thingplätze (Thingbewegung) zu entfernen. Weil das ja schon in der Kategorie Freilichtbühne (Kamenz) enthalten ist. Dazu habe ich die Freilichtbühne unter die Kategorie Hutberg gehängt. Theoretisch sollte also keine Datei in der Freilichtbühne (Kamenz) noch selbst in --Derbrauni (talk) 11:25, 1 December 2017 (UTC)Hutberg enthalten sein (habe ich nur für die B&S-Dateien geprüft). --Derbrauni (talk) 11:25, 1 December 2017 (UTC)

Bridge cat reverting

Wiki Loves Monuments 2019

Hallo Derbrauni,

bald ist es soweit: Vom 1. bis zum 30. September 2019 findet zum neunten Mal der internationale Wettbewerb Wiki Loves Monuments statt. Dabei können Bau- und Kulturdenkmale fotografiert und die Fotos hochgeladen werden. Du hast an einem der vergangenen Fotowettbewerbe teilgenommen. Deshalb laden wir dich ein, dieses Jahr wieder mitzumachen. Wir freuen uns auf deine Fotos!

Es sind viele spannende Motive überall in Deutschland zu fotografieren. Neben beeindruckenden märchenhaften Schlössern, Burgen und Kirchen können auch andere Kulturdenkmale wie Brücken, Industrieruinen, Bauernhöfe oder Parks fotografiert werden, um sie unter anderem in der Wikipedia zu dokumentieren. In den letzten Jahren sind zahlreiche neue Denkmallisten entstanden, die sich über Fotos freuen. Für die Suche nach Motiven gibt es bei Wikipedia zahlreiche Listen und Karten. Als Einstieg hilft diese Übersichtsseite. Weitere Informationen erhältst du auf der Mitmach-Seite.

Du bist interessiert, am Wettbewerb mitzuwirken, dir fehlt aber die richtige Technik? Dann wirf doch mal einen Blick in den Technikpool und das Technikleihportal von Wikimedia Deutschland! Dort findest du Kameras, Objektive und Zubehör verschiedenster Art. Sollte noch Technik fehlen, die aber in Zukunft unbedingt benötigt wird, dann freut sich Wikimedia Deutschland über dein Feedback zum Technikpool.

Außerdem laden wir Dich ein, ab Mitte September 2019 an der Vorjury teilzunehmen. Diese bewertet die hochgeladenen Bilder und ermittelt so gemeinsam mit der Jury, die im Oktober tagt, die Sieger von Wiki Loves Monuments 2019 in Deutschland. Das Vorjurytool ist hier bald freigeschaltet. Du benötigst dafür nur deinen Benutzernamen und das Passwort.

Important message for file movers

A community discussion has been closed where the consensus was to grant all file movers the suppressredirect user right. This will allow file movers to not leave behind a redirect when moving files and instead automatically have the original file name deleted. Policy never requires you to suppress the redirect, suppression of redirects is entirely optional.

Possible acceptable uses of this ability:

• To move recently uploaded files with an obvious error in the file name where that error would not be a reasonable redirect. For example: moving "Sheep in a tree.jpg" to "Squirrel in a tree.jpg" when the image does in fact depict a squirrel.
• To perform file name swaps.
• When the original file name contains vandalism. (File renaming criterion #5)

Please note, this ability should be used only in certain circumstances and only if you are absolutely sure that it is not going to break the display of the file on any project. Redirects should never be suppressed if the file is in use on any project. When in doubt, leave a redirect. If you forget to suppress the redirect in case of file name vandalism or you are not fully certain if the original file name is actually vandalism, leave a redirect and tag the redirect for speedy deletion per G2.

The malicious or reckless breaking of file links via the suppressredirect user right is considered an abuse of the file mover right and is grounds for immediate revocation of that right. This message serves as both a notice that you have this right and as an official warning.
