About me
Hi there! My name is Joe, and I'm a Trust and Safety Specialist at the Wikimedia Foundation. I have been an editor on the English Wikipedia (and dabbled in various other Wikimedia projects) since 2006. In real life, I'm originally from Aberdeen in Scotland, and graduated with a BA(Hons.) in Journalism in July 2015. I am currently based in San Francisco, California.
I wrote a dissertation on how Wikipedia reacts to breaking news as part of my degree.
My work
I'm a Trust and Safety Specialist on the Trust and Safety team. Our team works to keep volunteers safe while they interact with Wikimedia projects, both on- and offline. Recent work has included a resource kit on event safety and a metrics kit for measuring relative community health.
Disclaimer: I work for or provide services to the Wikimedia Foundation, and this is the account I try to use for edits or statements I make in that role. However, the Foundation does not vet all my activity, so edits, statements, or other contributions made by this account may not reflect the views of the Foundation.
