Talk:People's Mujahedin of Iran
There are a number statements in the article from former members of the MEK:
Should these be removed from the article? Ypatch (talk) 17:03, 16 March 2020 (UTC) |
| Hello, I'm in a disagreement with @M.Bitton: about how Si Kaddour Benghabrit's role in the Treaty of Fes should be covered. I've cited my sources, but I've been accused of WP:OR and misrepresenting a source, and I don't think those are fair accusations. I cleaned up my contributions in this edit to make them as technically compliant as possible, but @M.Bitton: still reverted it. We've been discussing it here: Please share your input. Some Arabic might be required. Thank you. إيان (talk) 01:58, 15 March 2020 (UTC) |
| Should the article contain an {{Infobox country}} along the lines of this example? --T*U (talk) 22:03, 14 March 2020 (UTC) |
| We currently state in the article that at least 5.5 million Jews were killed in The Holocaust. Please see Wikipedia:Dispute resolution noticeboard/Archive 66#Adolf Hitler as to how we arrived at the current figure of 5.5 million. Should we leave it as 5.5 million, increase it to 6 million, or use some other figure? — Diannaa (talk) 13:07, 11 March 2020 (UTC) |
| Should the "Name", "classical sources", and "literary sources" sections be combined to reduce duplication and improve overall quality?--Andrew Lancaster (talk) 13:22, 10 March 2020 (UTC) |
| Should this template include links to articles about topics that have significance outside of Arabic culture, such as Islamic architecture or Avicennism? signed, Rosguill talk 01:15, 8 March 2020 (UTC) |
Should the lead section of Ronald Reagan include the following?
Citations for both additions would be placed in the article body in the respective sections for AIDS (which includes the relevant sources listed immediately below) and Apartheid (which was affirmed by an RfC in October). Sdkb (talk) 05:43, 6 March 2020 (UTC) |
Should the lead article have the sentence In minutes the city of Tangshan, an industrial city with approximately one million inhabitants, ceased to exist.? Please decide on one of the three following proposals:

Talk:Republican Party (United States)
| Should the lead include mention of the fact that the Republican Party shifted its racial and geographical composition to the South and White Americans after the successes of the Civil Rights movement in the 60s, and that the party appealed to racial conservatism after the passage of the 1964 Civil Rights Act?
The text in question would summarize the "Composition" section of the body[1], and would reflect the contents of more than a dozen peer-reviewed studies on the matter. RfC expired and extended by Sdkb (talk) at 23:25, 2 March 2020 (UTC) |
| Should the Dakota people, as in this text, be in Minneapolis history? In December they were "Removed out-of-scope text regarding a general history of mid-West which is not specific to Minneapolis". Thank you. -SusanLesch (talk) 18:45, 2 March 2020 (UTC) |
| A dispute has arisen whether or not "Vita" can be used as an entry on this Disambiguation page when referring specifically to a book by that title, written by the 1st-century historian Josephus. One of the conditions for adding a name to WP:DAB is: "Ensuring that a reader who searches for a topic using a particular term can get to the information on that topic quickly and easily, whichever of the possible topics it might be." For the relative arguments (pros and cons) of adding the name "Vita (Josephus)" to this page, see the discussion here. Please advise.Davidbena (talk) 03:43, 27 February 2020 (UTC) |
| Hey everyone, I would like to propose that we swap the lede image for either of these two that are already in the article body. I understand there has been dispute regarding the current photo in the past, but there were no free/fair use replacements back then.
However, both of these other pictures are in public domain, and Photo 2 is in Commons. Honestly they just seem to better illustrate the article. Most people don't associate the Kubrick persona with his younger self. Those two other pictures are of Kubrick in his prime, so they might be good candidates. Opinions? | Should the article say in the lede that the Indigenous Aryans / Out of India theory is a fringe theory as in the suggestion below? Joshua Jonathan -Let's talk! 08:11, 23 February 2020 (UTC) |
| Currently, the Christopher Columbus page completely eschews the use of the word "discovery". This has gone back and forth over the years, I think it's time to get a wider commentary on this. The cited references pretty much all use the word, and indeed, several of them have the word in the title of the work. Refusing to use the word seems to be a mixture of WP:RECENTISM (the fashion for excising "discovery" is fairly recent) and WP:CENSOR ("discovery" as a dirty word). Either way, it means we're going out of our way to not follow our cited sources.
I understand the changes in current fashion, but I think Wikipedia is ill-served by bending to them. It is beyond question that when Columbus made his initial voyages, they were discoveries that hit both sides of the Atlantic like a thunderbolt. We can quibble over the terminology (perhaps say "discovery of the route" or "discovery from the point of view of both Americans and Eurasians"), but only with caution. It would be easy to get so tied up in precision as to make the article unreadable. Tarl N. (discuss) 21:19, 22 February 2020 (UTC) |
Wikipedia:Village pump (policy)
| Question: What should the general rule/principle/guideline be for categorizing current localities by historical administrative subdivision in Central and Eastern Europe? There are quite a few articles of cities and towns that have been categorized not only in which administrative subdivision they currently are in, but also by the former subdivisions.
Typical example: Eišiškės, a small town in Lithuania, is in these categories: Category:Cities in Lithuania, Category:Cities in Vilnius County, Category:Šalčininkai District Municipality, Category:Vilnius Voivodeship, Category:Lidsky Uyezd, Category:Nowogródek Voivodeship (1919–1939). The first 3 categories reflect the current administrative subdivision. Vilnius Voivodeship was a subdivision in 1413–1795. Lidsky Uyezd was a 2nd-level subdivision sometime between 1795–1915. Nowogródek Voivodeship (1919–1939) was an inter-war subdivision. General options:

| Should the further reading section contain references about the Black Belt?
Background: At Rjensen (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · edit filter log · block user · block log) then created Black Belt in the American South which, while not a phrase that is in common use the way "bible belt" is, is clearly used by enough sources to justify a Wikipedia article. Rjensen then inserted content into Deep South referring to the page he created[2] and inserted multiple references to the black belt into the further reading section of Deep South article.[3][4] The question before us is whether material about the black belt but not about the deep south should be retained to the further reading section of the deep south article. --Guy Macon (talk) 15:46, 20 February 2020 (UTC) |
