The 2019–20 coronavirus pandemic was confirmed to have spread to Slovakia on 6 March 2020, with one case. Prime Minister Peter Pellegrini announced that a 52-year-old man was infected.[1] He didn't travel anywhere, but his son traveled to Venice, Italy and it was believed that his son is the patient zero (first person to be infected), which was later confirmed. On the next day, three positive cases were confirmed, including the 52-year-old man's son and wife.[2] In the course of next days, COVID-19 cases went up to 21 out of 832 tested. The Prime Minister and interim Minister of Health, Peter Pellegrini, called multiple crisis meetings, which adopted some of the most serious precautions in Europe up to date, including ban on all personal international flights, rail and bus travel, ban on all in and out unnecessary foreign travel, border checks, compulsory 14-day quarantine for everyone returning from abroad and nationwide school closure.[3]
